Impresario Handmade Restaurants launches Ring Road SOCIAL in the culture hub of Indore – making it the 7th Indian city to experience the iconic all-day cafe chain
1st March 2021: Often referred to as the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh’s history and culture is a national heritage. Among its fastest growing cities is Indore, which has consistently ranked high for its cleanliness and green cover. A thriving food culture, the famous Sarafa Bazaar, close-knit communities: Indore has it all. And entering the heart of the food capital of the state is Impresario Handmade Restaurants, which is finally bringing its iconic SOCIAL chain to the city. Say hello to Ring Road SOCIAL, which opens to the public on 1st March.
India’s favourite all-day café and workspace, SOCIAL is known for creating spaces that epitomize its core values of community and creativity via unique and affordable F&B offerings, community-centric events and gigs, collaborative workspaces, and a culture that fosters serendipitous connections. SOCIAL is where you get offline to #eat, #drnk, #work, and #play.
Says Riyaaz Amlani, CEO & MD – Impresario Handmade Restaurants, “SOCIAL has a unique identity as a space where culture, creativity, and community collide, and we’re excited to finally bring it to Indore. We’ve been planning our entry to this young and culturally diverse city for a long time; Indore is the 7th Indian city to experience our hyper popular brand, and we couldn’t think of a better place than Ring Road SOCIAL to kickstart our expansion into the new India. Keeping up with the challenges of COVID-19, Ring Road SOCIAL is completely COVID ready in its design and service protocols. Every SOCIAL is inspired by the energy of its hyperlocal community, and Indore being the land of indigenous communities, we’re keen to become that go-to space for people from all walks of life to come together and call this space their second home.”
Celebrating local culture and giving it a modern edge is a big part of SOCIAL’s DNA, and this philosophy extends to how the outpost in Indore has been designed. Inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s rich tribal culture, royal Malwa traditions, and design heritage, Ring Road SOCIAL is dramatically different from anything SOCIAL has done before. The outpost also takes inspiration from Gond art, with deep brown and ochre serving as the primary colour palettes for the space.
Sustainability is a key pillar of the brand’s design and architecture, and is exemplified with the generous use of local materials like bamboo and cane where all its installations, sculptures, furniture, and lighting have creative applications of these materials.
The stand out feature of Ring Road SOCIAL is the ‘Tree of Life’ motif, artfully depicted via an intricate arrangement of bamboos and wires. Inspired by kalpavriksha or the ‘divine tree’, the fluid structure extends in all directions leading ultimately to the flooring, which is a reflection of the tree itself. The roots are depicted as a pathway of inner discovery, much like the outpost itself; helping the city connect with the people that have nurtured it.
“Indore is at the crossroads of overlapping cultural forces, and Ring Road SOCIAL celebrates the indigenous communities who’ve been leading sustainable lifestyles in harmony with nature, art and culture. The space attempts to infuse the energy and vibrancy of the city’s tribal communities and we wanted to instill a sense of awareness and appreciation of their way of life. The space has been divided strategically into zones, with booth seating providing privacy and safety for our patrons. Large, open, and clutter-free spaces around the central arena – along with a bamboo-clad outdoor area – help circulate air and provide a constant source of light and ventilation,” says Som Sengupta, Founder – Zeppelin Design & Environments LLP.
We’re thrilled to partner with Impresario Handmade Restaurants to bring SOCIAL to Indore. Our city is going to love getting to know this iconic brand and I’m sure Ring Road SOCIAL will very soon become every Indori’s favourite neighbourhood cafe! We can’t wait for you to experience its fantastic food, community events, and workspace,” says Devika Madhok, CEO, Madhok Ventures Pvt. Ltd.
SOCIAL’s food menu is all about a ‘fun dining’ take on regular fare, and Ring Road SOCIAL offers all-day breakfast alongside its iconic SOCIAL breakfast trays, kebab platters, munchies, tandoori pizzas, and biryanis. A special feature includes a ‘Local Heroes’ section of Indori favourites that come with a uniquely SOCIAL twist. “Indoris love chaat, so we’ve included some of our most popular chaats like the bite-sized Chaat Ke Gubaarey at Ring Road SOCIAL. Another innovative addition to the menu is Bhindi Bhelpuri, which includes vacuum-fried bhindi and is a must-try. We’ve also included a lot of vegetarian tandoori items explored in new ways, like the truffled Broccoli Malai Tikka and Aloo Paneer Seekh,” says Shamsul Wahid, Group Executive Chef – Impresario Handmade Restaurants.
Adds Mayank Bhatt, Business Head – SOCIAL, “With our first Indore outpost, we want to introduce the city to SOCIAL’s unique ‘work x play’ ethos. Our space has the ability to adapt to whatever our guests need it to be: whether it’s a chilled out workplace, a post-work hangout spot, or a super fun party place. We’re excited to finally give Indore the full SOCIAL experience that the rest of the country knows and loves!”
An epitome of culture, food, fun and good times, #IndoreKaApnaSOCIAL is finally here.
