~On the occasion of Mahashivratri, Wishes and Blessings, Delhi-based NGO, distributed milk to street children across Delhi/NCR.
New Delhi, March 11, 2021: To include underprivileged and homeless children in the celebrations of the auspicious festival of Mahashivratri, Wishes and Blessings distributed milk to over 5,000 children across Delhi/NCR.
Wishes and Blessings has been executing this special milk drive on the occasion of Mahashivratri for the last two years. This year, the NGO invited kind hearted and generous individuals to come forward and contribute to this unique initiative. The team distributed milk to children in major locations including Madhipur village, Israil Camp, Shankar Camp, Singhi Basti, Sarai Kale Khan, Modi Mills, Coolie Camp, as well as the streets of Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon amongst others. Beneficiaries included street children, children living with HIV, orphaned children, homeless children and underprivileged children. Special care was taken to ensure that all social distancing protocols were observed during the distribution process.
Commenting on this special drive, Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder and President, Wishes and Blessings NGO, said, “It was very fulfilling to distribute milk to thousands of hungry, destitute children. While we know that serving only one glass of milk makes a negligible difference to their health and immunity, nevertheless there is a jump in something that is equally important- the happiness quotient. It was extremely heart-warming to include these children on such an auspicious day as today, and I’m very grateful to all those who came forward to help us spread joy and positivity to those who need it the most.”
Raghav, a beneficiary in Madhipur village said, “We always see uncles and aunties going to temples and offering milk to Shivaji on Mahashivratri. Today, I also got milk to drink and I feel very special!
